Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Guildbook, the website at guildbook.io, every guild site on a guildbook.io subdomain (for example osm.guildbook.io), any custom domain a guild connects to Guildbook, and the Vigil companion app (together, "Guildbook" or "the service"). Guildbook is run by Matthew Rosendin ("we", "us").

By signing in or using Guildbook you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What Guildbook is

Guildbook is a free, non-commercial platform for World of Warcraft: Forever guilds. Each guild gets its own site with a roster, character pages, applications, ranks, progression, guild pages and Vigil, a personal combat performance review tool. We don't charge for Guildbook and we don't show ads.

Not affiliated with Blizzard

Guildbook is a fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored or approved by Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. World of Warcraft, Warcraft and Battle.net are trademarks or registered trademarks of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. in the U.S. and other countries. Game artwork, icons and other game content are © Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. and are used for identification and community purposes only.

Who can use Guildbook

You must be at least 13 years old, or older if the law where you live sets a higher minimum age for using online services like this without parental consent. Because you sign in with Discord, you must also meet Discord's own age requirements. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these terms.

Your account

• You sign in with your Discord account. We don't offer passwords of our own.
• You're responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your Discord account secure.
• You can optionally link a Battle.net account to verify your characters. Linking is never required to sign in, and you can unlink at any time.
• Don't create accounts to evade a ban, and don't share or sell your account.

Guilds, owners and officers

Anyone signed in can create a guild, within the limits we set to prevent abuse. The person who creates a guild and the members they give officer or higher ranks ("guild leaders") run that guild's site.

Guild leaders are responsible for:

• the content they publish on their guild's site, such as guild pages, the charter, schedules, recruitment notes, progression and addon listings;
• how they handle applications and member data they can see, including applicants' answers and Discord handles, and the guild's audit log;
• setting and enforcing their guild's own rules, and treating members and applicants fairly;
• making sure any custom domain they connect is one they control.

Guild leaders must only use member and applicant information to run the guild. They must not copy it elsewhere, publish it or use it for anything unrelated to the guild.

Each guild's own rules apply inside that guild in addition to these terms. If they conflict, these terms win.

Guild names

A guild on Guildbook is identified by its name, faction and WoW: Forever ruleset, and only one guild can hold each combination. Names and subdomains of unverified guilds are first come, first served.

A guild becomes verified when its in-game Guild Master proves, through a linked Battle.net account, that they lead the in-game guild with that name, faction and ruleset. A verified Guild Master may claim a name, or the subdomain matching their guild's name, that is held by an unverified guild. When that happens, the unverified guild is renamed (for example "Name (unverified)") or moved to a numbered subdomain, its admins are told why, and the change is recorded in its audit log. Nothing else changes: its members, content and custom domains stay with it, and the old subdomain doesn't redirect. A verified guild's name or subdomain can't be claimed. Guildbook re-checks verification daily and removes it after a week of failed checks.

We may also reserve, reassign or remove names and subdomains that impersonate Blizzard, other guilds or people, or that are held only to keep them from others.

Acceptable use

When using Guildbook you must not:

• harass, threaten, bully or dox anyone;
• post hate speech, or content that promotes violence or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or similar characteristics;
• post illegal content, sexual content involving minors, or content that infringes someone else's rights;
• impersonate another person, guild or Blizzard, or misrepresent your characters, rank or affiliation;
• scrape, crawl or bulk-download the service, or collect other users' information, except through features we provide for that purpose;
• attack, overload, probe or bypass the security of the service, including its rate limits and access controls;
• upload malware, or use Guildbook to send spam;
• use Guildbook in a way that breaks Discord's, Blizzard's or any other applicable terms.

Your content

"Your content" means anything you submit, such as applications, character details, guild pages, notes and Vigil fight summaries.

• You keep ownership of your content.
• You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, display and process your content only as needed to run, secure and improve Guildbook, and to show it to the people you or your guild choose. This licence ends when your content is deleted from the service, except for copies kept as described in our Privacy Policy (for example, in the guild's audit log or backups).
• You confirm you have the right to submit your content.

Guild content

Content that belongs to a guild as a whole, such as its pages, charter, ranks, schedule, recruitment needs, progression records and addon listings, is controlled by that guild's leaders. When you edit guild content as an officer, you give the guild the right to keep and change it, and you give us the licence above for it. Guild content can stay on the guild's site after you leave the guild.

Moderation and termination

• Guild leaders can decline applications, change ranks and remove members from their guild.
• We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or delete accounts or guilds that break these terms or the law, or that put the service or other users at risk. Where reasonable we'll tell you why, but we don't have to give notice in urgent cases.
• You can stop using Guildbook at any time and delete your account yourself from your account page on guildbook.io (see our Privacy Policy).
• We may change, pause or shut down all or part of Guildbook at any time. If we plan to shut the service down, we'll try to give reasonable notice so guilds can save what they need.

Third-party services

Guildbook relies on services we don't control:

• Discord for sign-in. Discord's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy apply to your Discord account.
• Blizzard Battle.net for optional account linking and character data. Blizzard's terms, including the Blizzard End User License Agreement, apply to your Battle.net account and to the game.
• Warcraft Logs or other sites that a guild links to. We aren't responsible for their content or practices.

If one of these services changes or stops working, parts of Guildbook may stop working too.

The Vigil addon and companion app

Vigil helps you review your own performance from the combat log file that World of Warcraft writes on your computer.

• The Vigil companion app is a desktop program. It reads the combat log file in your World of Warcraft Logs folder, analyses it on your computer and, if you pair it with your guild site, uploads per-fight summaries to your account. If you ask it to, it can also copy the Vigil addon into your game's AddOns folder. It never reads or changes the game's memory, never injects code into the game client, never sends input to the game and never automates gameplay.
• The Vigil addon is a standard in-game addon that runs through Blizzard's own addon interface. It can turn on the game's combat logging and save snapshots of your gear, talents and stats in the game's saved variables file.
• You install and use the companion app and the addon at your own risk. You're responsible for making sure your use of them follows Blizzard's terms and policies.

The service is provided "as is"

Guildbook is free and provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that data will never be lost, or that Vigil's analysis, scores or character data from Blizzard are accurate. Keep your own copies of anything important.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, game items, accounts, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use Guildbook, the Vigil addon or the companion app, even if we were told such damages were possible. Because Guildbook is free, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to US $0 or, where the law doesn't allow that, the smallest amount the law permits.

Some places don't allow these exclusions or limits, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

Indemnity

To the extent allowed by law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs from claims by others arising from your content or your breach of these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above, and for significant changes we'll try to give notice on the site. If you keep using Guildbook after changes take effect, you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.

General

If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Guildbook.
